Hello everyone, I am an alumni of IIT Kharagpur (1972) and after completing PhD,  spent about 45 years in the corporate domain, thought of sharing my experience and little wisdom with young managers  through this website. This is more of a socialistic approach for the welfare of young managers. An attempt has been made to clarify the concept of Emotional Intelligence and Competency Mapping in the corporate world.

The concept of Emotional Intelligence came in the early 1990’s by the  renowned psychologist John Mayer and Peter Salovey. Emotions are mainly internal events which influences cognitive behaviours and psychological responses through conscious awareness. The concept of Intelligence quotient (IQ) had been considered earlier as the main contributor for progress in life but there has been lot of change in the thinking after different researchers in the area has expressed their views as EQ is more relevant than IQ. Emotional mind acts much faster than static mind. Dr. Daniel Goleman, renowned behavioural scientist had much contribution in this regard.

In this website an attempt has been made to explain different faculties in Emotional Intelligence and it’s importance in competency mapping in different sections and research in the areas has been discussed for more clarification in the subject. The purpose is to create awareness about the importance of Emotional Intelligence. Erratic behaviour of boss may affect the performance of an employee as it would work against the motivation and organisation suffers finally. There are relationship between emotional intelligence and competency mapping. We have a panel of ex-Bankers, Engineers and Educationists. Anyone who is conversant with the interdisciplinary research in the area are most welcome to send their inputs to our e-mail and a token honorarium will be offered.
